This was my first attempt to rebind a perfect bound book. I began by removing the original covers and using a guillotine on the spine. Through a combination of careful cutting and pure luck, I kept the binding glue intact while removing the spine. The new leather spine and marbled paper boards are cased over the text block and attached with paper end sheets and a linen hinge. It was a fun and successful project. I will upload more pictures of the tooling once it is complete!
