One of my first commissions for the Charleston Library Society was for a former Marine, who had a book dedicated to his time of service. It was an extremely satisfying experience to help him preserve this piece of his past.
I was able to reattach the boards and create a new spine that matched the original one. The trickiest part was repairing the torn end sheets which had printed photographs across both pages.
With layers of toned Japanese tissue and a lot of blending with colored pencils, the results were great. The hardest part was blending the grass and the grenades at the bottom end of the back page.
